since normally on submit it updates it to v14
|

i think as long as you don't override the map data, you can submit it in v5
|

i.e. not saving
|
|
|
uploading inherently saves the map
|
|
|
so it's important after opening the upload dialog to go and overwrite the difficulty you currently have open in osu!

it only updates the difficulty you have open

but with uploading specifically, osu! only updates when you open the dialog, you can technically do anything to the map folder inbetween then and pressing upload on the popup
