Format
Sudden Death Gauntlet is a single day double-elimination bracket.
Players will be manually seeded according to their tournament strength and general osu! skill level. Rank/Bancho BWS is not used for seeding.
This is a single-day tournament. Please commit time to play until elimination.
b20130303 Digital Client++ (5.0.18) is the only osu! version allowed for this tournament.
Any other osu! versions are explicitly banned from use in SD Gauntlet. Exceptions to this rule are made on a case-by-case basis.
At the start of the bracket, the Lower Stage pool will be played. These matches are BO5.
Starting at Top 6, the Upper Stage will be played. These matches are BO7.
Protect/Ban
SD Gauntlet uses a protect-ban system over the traditional pick-ban system. Players play each map in the mappool sequentially (similar to qualifier lobbies in other tournaments), with the order of maps being randomly shuffled each match.
Protecting prevents a map from being banned. Protected maps will always be played first.
Banning excludes a map from being played altogether. With one ban for each player, the total number of playable maps equals the Best Of count.
Tiebreaker (TB) is always played last. It cannot be banned.
Each player gets one protect and one ban.
At the start of a match, both players will roll. The winner gets to choose their protect or ban. After, the other player will choose their protect or ban. A protect and ban for each player is chosen in ABAB order.
Scoring
All maps are played with ScoreV1 with accuracy win condition on Team VS mode.
All maps are played with the Sudden Death mod. If a player fails, the map will end with the other player as the winner.
Some maps are pooled with an additional required mod.
Players may optionally use Hidden on the Tiebreaker (TB).
Mappool
Lower Stage is a ~4.5* mappool consisting of 7 maps:
NM1, NM2, HR1, HD1, DT1, DT2, TB
Upper Stage is a ~5.5* mappool consisting of 9 maps:
NM1, NM2, NM3, NM4, HR1, HD1, DT1, DT2, TB
Mappools will be released on Friday, January 23.
Additional rules
If a player fails within the first 15 combo, they may request a replay of that map. Each player can only request a replay once a match.
If technical difficulties occur during a map, both players must agree to request a replay of that map. This may only be done once a match.
We value sportsmanship and competitive integrity. Improper conduct to staff or other players may result in disqualification or a tournament ban.
