problem: due to the modern fade-in and fade-out preview audios being rolled out, modern previews killed the nostalgic core of this server
what was affected to: only every ranked sets are affected except for old pending mapsets back 2007-2015, and sets that are ranked from 2016 and up (let's say created back in the mentioned range, and updated it. tldr; 2014 map, ranked 2018)

the problem is some crispy preview audios take up like dozens of megabyte than in kilobytes to save up their mobile data usage, and keeping the change can help users to reminisce what the preview point used to be

i was the only one disagreeing the new feature but it's not considered retro anymore

what has been old is old. terrible quality audio has been a phenomenon and a staple food of low-res memes and it instills the style so it is up for you to decide

The filesizes on those old audio files were not that much smaller, I know since I made some custom ones at the same audio quality level.
Also are half megabyte audio file previews actually going to be enough of a strain on someones data plan? just loading modern webpages uses as much if not more, yet alone opening any social media. This seems like a moot point.
I do not reminisce about what the old preview points were lol.

It always has been since the beginning and I was the only one grew up to this era. What about removing fade-ins and fade-outs while maintaining the cripsy audio quality if you were opposing to maintain the new previews?

i'm gonna have to agree with everyone else, a small change for no reason isn't going to change anything besides having a "nostalgic" feel.

(only here since gsxr asked me about this)

we should not be looking at preserving the old audio quality, we should rather look into making the ones that are lower quality better :p

most of the titanic originals have even the old-styled audio previews and it went better, so I don't have much to say about the preview audios. let's say everyone appreciated the good crispiness, but the oldies disagreed.
