no disrespect to Mahogany but i feel like being this map as the winner is questionable but sure its what the people vote or rather its what the community voted for, the problem is that the map in itself imo feels like its more of "haha its MrLadyBug it has to be the most peak map of the year" versus you have these actual good maps that are capable to vote for like vyper's MAX FOREVER or arutama's farm version of LIEBLINGSFUCK, meaning its practically more of a "meme but fun" against hard but has more spice element incorporated to the map.
either way, its the people who voted for, it is what it is. |

Maybe implement a “Mapper’s Pick” system like Bancho has? Then you could involve both players’ and mappers’ opinions for two separate badges. Anyways this is what the majority of the people voted for and honestly I’m happy for the winner(s). I really dislike this attitude of “this map was probably picked because of x or y” and it surprises me that this occurs even on here. Have some fun man :( Maybe host mbc-esque contests or mapping votes exclusive for mappers or “people with good taste”? Wouldn’t end well but could be a good try. sup

Like i said, next contest it could be better to separate categories, meme-focused, most played beatmap of the year, best marathon map of the year, best small cs map of the year etc, those are example, just like mappers choice award but for everyone who can vote it, players or mappers.

No one got mad when lieblingfuch won last year, but people are mad about silly bug song? I think this is just mean towards the people who won. If someone wants to make a mappers choice vote then do it, but just like on bancho people vote the sets that made them happy in that year. It’s not about being the best map, it’s about what was fun.

I don't think it matters either (I accept the result and we should do more defined categories next year) but it was worded as "best" map, not "most fun" map. On Bancho, community choice is described as "favorite", not necessarily "Best"

Who’s to say for those users it wasn’t the best map they played? Best can be defined in many different ways.

Anyways, for next year let’s try a different format, maybe it could be worked out what kind of categories people want to see!
