Let me know if it still happens in the next release, I made some changes to OpenGL, and you can even use OpenGL at more than 120fps in Wine now. Old osu! versions artificially limited fps for Wine users, I’ve removed that and Levi says it works great for him on Wine now

I have added katoumegumi_'s patched wine components as a separate download! This should give a much better Linux experience for those running under wine!

The next public release is here with 2.1.30! This is an absolutely massive update to the client! Just one note, please set this up as a new client, only copy over your skins and maps. Please do not copy over any of the files from another osu! installation, even an older installation of this mod!

Main Menu:
  • Visualizer has been added! Customize if using either the modern design, or the beta one!
  • Snow has been added! Experiment with 3 different options. Default, Halloween, or Currently Selected Cookie!
  • Triangles has been added to the Main Menu! You get 4 options with this one, 2 are for the Beta Rounded Triangle Design, and 2 are for the Modern Sharp Triangle Design! You can have them all face upwards, or be either up or down facing!
  • Ensure Triangles can pull from either your skin's menu-background colors, or from the in-game menu-background even in OpenGL! Something Stable cannot even do :D
  • New Lazer inspired Menu options are here! There are 3 customizable Icon styles! 2015, 2016, and 2024! There are also two gray bar options. Beta Triangles themed one, and the modern gray one!

  • Menu shake is now disabled by default! However you can enable it again if you would like
  • Modern overlays are here with Modern Skin Style!
  • Cookie scaling is now fixed! I manually scale each cookie to be the same size as each other! No more tiny or huge cookies!
  • New Chomik osu! cookie!
  • Enabling Fullscreen now works properly!
  • New Tests screen! Recreating Stable Lazer Transitional's similar screen! I created these tests to help aid in development in the mod!

  • Clicking on the osu! cookie on the main menu will dim the background! You can also disable this feature if you'd like

Song Selection:
  • You can now search based on beatmap metadata! Search for Mode, Status, Circle Size, Approach Rate, HP Drain, Overall Difficulty, in addition to normal searching methods!

  • osu! will now remember your last played GameMode if you are using the Modern Skin Style!
  • Use CONTROL+1-4 to quickly change GameModes! Thanks to Tree for helping backport this feature!
  • Disable the automatic Song Selection scroll! You can re-enable this if you want though

Gameplay:

  • Shift Tab is here! You can now Hide the entire interface when playing!
  • Score Meter has been backported to b20130303! Now you can see how accurate your timing is! Works in all modes, and it's size is customizable even more than stable!

  • Modern Skinning support has been extended to Taiko! No more broken skins for Taiko! Thanks to willow for help with backporting this feature!

  • Maps with Storyboard Samples will no longer give errors!
  • Storyboards with Decimal Movement's will no longer throw errors!
  • Old Style Breaks have been ported from 2008 osu! clients!
  • OpenGL Improvements! You can now use OpenGL on any framerate that you want! This will make the game feel very similar to Stable. A lot of work went into fixing and adding features for OpenGL, so if the game lags for you in DirectX, give OpenGL a try!
  • Maps with extremely long file names should now import into osu! correctly!
  • Automatic lead in time has been added! You will no longer get jumpscared by the first object in a map!
  • Added an option to disable the Song Text under the Playfield in Taiko!
  • Enable the HUD while playing the Relax mod!
  • Initial support for 5:4 aspect ratios. This is still a bit jank, so don't expect too much out of this, but it works fine in Gameplay

Scores and Replays:
  • You can now disable FL and DT from replays while watching them! Thanks Nikku for help with backporting this feature!

  • Widescreen Score Ranking is here! Swap between the classic and modern style using the Skin Style Options

Editor:
  • Stacking and Follow Points have been backported! You can now view the objects how they will appear in Gameplay!
  • Brand new Editor Theme! Stable Lazer Transitional Theme! This is based on the osu! rewrite from mid 2016 that never saw the light of day.

  • Improved 2014 Editor theme! It is now much more faithful to Stable!
  • Improved AiMod! It will now tell you how unsnapped slider ends and circles are! This will only fire if the objects are unsnapped by at least 2ms, just like Mapset Verifier!

(this has since been changed to show these as errors, not warnings)
  • Audio lead in now changes in 50ms increments, and have a tooltip so you can see the exact value it is at!

  • You can now enable DT in the map Testing screen!
  • Added new SliderBar's for the different Editor Themes!
  • Reference another difficulty while mapping in the Mania Editor! Thanks to Nikku for help with backporting this feature!
  • Moved the Mania Editor over to the left, and Moved the current time Upwards to match Stable!
  • Move the bookmark buttons if using the Mania Editor so they can still be pressed!

Benchmark:
  • You now have the option to enable Hardware Submission for the built in Benchmark! You will be prompted the first time you launch it asking if you are okay with it! If you say no you can still submit benchmark scores without your hardware being shared!

  • Updated this screen to no longer have a broken dragger!
  • Add new button to show user's hardware if their benchmark score has this data!

Theming and Default Skin:
  • Improved the Score elements and made them @2x!
  • Brand new fonts! Used in different parts of the mod!
  • Updated pDialog adding modern pButton's if using Modern Skin Style!
  • Slightly improved Argon recreation skin! New cursor and reverse arrows!

And SO SO SO SO many bugfixes and minor changes…. This was over 250 commits in 1 month! Absolutely huge progress. Please give me this modded version a try and let me know if you find any bugs!

Here is a sneak peak of what I am working on for the next version of the modded client!
Wish me luck on adding this! This will require another massive overhaul to get it working properly, but early results have been promising!

New features:

  • All replays will be saved locally, including those with relax!

  • You can now view the current beatmap's background in the main menu! it looks sick! It's on by default but you can turn it off of course

The most notable one is the new Hexis Main Menu Recreation! Hexis was an osu! clone that lasted from 2014-2017

Aeris/Kawata Classic and Lazer Main Menu Modes

Added with permission from TheFantastic Loki the current maintainer of that client!

  • Disabling map hitsounds will disable custom samplesets now too!
  • Map SV range has increased from 0.5 to 2.0 to 0.1 to 10.0 for all game modes! This matches stable!
  • Stacking is now WAY less buggy
  • Control H and Control J work much better now compared to 2.1.33!
  • Added new pCheckBoxAeris and pCheckBoxFX based on those clients!
  • It is now possible to open 3K Mania maps in the editor! But you can't play them yet
  • Added osu!me cookie with the help of Nymphia!
  • Added Nymphia's custom 2011 cookie with the 2007 cookie colors!
  • Fixes to hitlighting!
  • Added a 4th snow option that will force use the build int menu-mode icons instead of your skin ones!
  • Added Nymphia's fixed assets for certain 2x images
  • Fix a bug where watching a replay would set your last played mode to the mode of the replay!
  • Fix textures breaking when changing resolutions in DirectX!
  • Fix a bug where creating a new difficulty would force the slider border and fill color to be white
  • Add a checkbox to enable custom slider border and fill color
  • Add a note telling users that in order to enable custom slider colors that they must enable custom combo colors
  • Other bug fixes lmao

2.1.33 could be pretty buggy, please update to the newest version and try out the new features!

Okay so, the benchmark. The score SEEMS TO BE affected by your I/O calls on your system, especially if you have tons of maps/skins installed. It's a good idea to minimize OS/file overhead before running benchmark.

1. Temporarily remove fonts, backgrounds, skins and songs folders so the client doesn't load them and waste CPU cycles
2. Close down everything else
3. Consider doing overclocking, at your own risk.
4. Rerun benchmarks, you might get a better score.

Linux hassle level stuff:
5. Consider running on LTO+PGO optimized Gentoo install for your CPU architecture, if you can.
5.1. If you don't want to hassle with Gentoo, consider just self-building linux-tkg kernel and wine-osu-spectator for your CPU architecture.
5.2. If you use Arch Linux, consider using ALHP (unstable) or CachyOS (more stable) packages for extra performance
6. INCREASE audio buffer size to reduce CPU instructions required to push audio to buffer. This is applicable to "Linux low latency audio on osu!" guys
7. Consider running on a basic window manager, such as Openbox without compositors
8. Run osu! through gamemode wrapper, might help
