the groups themselves are a bit different than on old osu, but since most are the same I was wondering if ppl would want to have more authentic display of them, most importantly imo being the colors.

heres a comparison of the group colors and my suggestion for changes if it was going to be more authentic

groups that correspond to old osu:
- user: no color
- gmt: green
- admin: red -> this was not public and didn't have a color, but many admins were orange and titled "Community Manager" (or some inside joke). some were the dark blue that peppy uses. at the time in osu that this site is modeled after, iirc it was just peppy and Intermezzo with that blue color.
- bat: blue -> red
- dev: purple -> pink
- alumni: crimson -> gray
- tournament: violet -> no color

exclusive to titanic
- donators: yellow -> no color (if we assume this is like supporter, it was indicated in other ways)
- early: light blue -> idk, if going for authentic look then probably just no color
- bot: blue-green -> bots that were hosted on players' accounts at this time did not have a color. so maybe no color, or it could use the search crawler one
- modding: bright blue-green -> idk but maybe can use the BN purple since in this proposal that color is not used. or the dev pink as there are no titanic devs who arent also admins anyway

exclusive to old osu
- search engine crawler: very light gray
- mat/bn: purple
- various people had orange or blue color for reasons unrelated to groups (colors actually had nothing to do with groups but just normally corresponded to them)

… i think that's it up to the point of the new website. some of these colors changed a bit over time, what i listed is 2013-2015 ish

Give me some color codes, and i'll add them :+1:

I think changing donator color to pink looks nice cuz it matches with the osu!supporter icon logo (the heart).

but imo its whatever this kind of proposal is nice to have.

I'm open for any suggestions! The colors themselves are very easy to change, just let me know what looks best.

bn purple - i think i just made this one up actually, it's coming back to me now that they had that yellow "nominator" badge and bar on the forums but i think no special color or title.

i assume bn purple is rgb(163, 71, 235) or A347EB?
edit: should've been darker like 6B3FA0

that's the new site BN color, it wasn't present at the relevant time and BNs didn't have a title at all back then (which is what would have given color to usernames)

if you go even further back MAT did have both a light purple and dark purple but those were alongside a very different palette of title colors

Yes they had Nominator Badge back in the day and i remember it, idk what other would think about this idea but i think for my opinion i would stick with the group instead of a badge cuz we have tenure badges and nomination badges from 100 to 1000 i think?

(i've confusingly been mentioning the color i thought i remembered just cuz it would've been the remaining one from 2014-2015 osu website… if i hadn't misremembered its existence)

The current Alumni color is too dark and maybe it should be changed to light gray instead? What do you guys think?

I guess my opinion will always lean toward "more like the original", but there's also more work to be done on related styling (for example, normal users' names weren't black in some areas of the site, and custom-colored names were sometimes bolded) that might change how some of these colors feel, hopefully for the better in the case of using the original ones
