Since people seem to be confused on what exactly to do since the .json file isn't named exactly what it's supposed to be named, here is a direct download link with the correct file name. https://chierion.top/files/osu!.deps.json

Download the .json file linked here, go into the root directory where you have Digital Client stored, and add it into your folder like so:

Digital Client should start working for you now.

Hotfix time! Crucial patch for the last release

More Data on Score Submission by Levi and Digitalfear117

Just like on Stable there are now two rows of data when you scroll down on the ranking panel!

Fixed Sliderends Not Scoring Correctly on Buzz Sliders

This is partially a peppy moment, because this bug existed on vanilla b20130303, and b20130606 (see Matzcore), but the effects were more noticeable on Digital Client due to using more modern code for sliders. This has been fixed now!

I manually fixed scores on the leaderboard I found that were affected by this bug. If you find any more maps that were affected by this bug, let me know.

The last sliderend on this slider would not be scored previously.

Fixed Windows Scaling Affecting WinForms on .NET 10 (64 Bit Builds) by Khangaroo

Another bug caused by .NET 10, this should now be fixed!

Here's what the bug looked like.

Move to HTTPS by Levi

More secure connections to Bancho, nice! You will notice the executable is smaller too because we fully removed the old HTTP library peppy used!

Fix Aeris Volume Adjuster Style in the Editor on DirectX

In the previous release the volume circles would become offset in the editor, this has been fixed!

Here's what the bug looked like.

Fixed CurrentCombo Always Being 0 for the Live pp Counter

I'm not entirely sure why this value is 0, but I sidestepped it by just grabbing the current combo from the combo counter, peppy does this elsewhere so it's not that weird in this codebase.

Blackjack 2026 Card Numbers are Now More Visible

Idk why they were white before, they black in the 2017 version even lol

Patch Files for 5.0.39

These patch files will ONLY work for 5.0.39, if you are on an older release (5.0.20 or older) you MUST redownload.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/c29vfv91hcbi2qz/b20130303_Digital_Client%252B%252B_5.0.41_Patch_Files.7z/file

For 64 bit, just copy the 3 files over your existing 5.0.39 install. For 32 bit, just copy the 2 files over your existing 5.0.39 install. You may also want to copy the compatibility executables, but it's not strictly required if you never use them.

5.0.41 32 Bit Release (Fallback)

https://www.mediafire.com/file/y411m9qsrtec42r/b20130303_Digital_Client%252B%252B_5.0.41_x86.7z/file
32 Bit is the only way to get DirectX currently on Digital Client, otherwise I recommend using 64 Bit.

I've noticed with the couple few updates that performance has been randomly tanking, issues that have been solved randomly are starting to come back. This includes when you're playing for long periods of time, maybe opening a few submenus in the editor, consistently needing to change SV on notes, or change anything else in the editor. You'll start noticing your performance tanking extremely badly once you start moving your mouse, this happens on both Digital and 2015 clients.

Something I don't expect to be easily fixed is the random lag spikes you get, it's not at the start of a map anymore, it's in the beginning of a few notes, causing the client to lag and make you miss a note. It occasionally does it in the middle of the map as well. I've been told consistently that it's "bass.dll" that causes this issue, however I'm not entirely sure if that's true? It's never done this before until the last 3 updates, so something else had to of changed.

I have never seen this happen before, even after running the client for a week straight.

Yes this affects all versions of stable as all versions of bass it's ever used has this bug. Khangaroo tried to port the fix to Digital Client from Lazer but it did not work. Bass is the library osu! uses to play sound.

This is kind of like chasing the boogieman, I have no idea what could cause it. Now I've had the same kind of horrible stutters with Stable too if Discord Desktop is open, only way I've ever been able to fix it is to close discord completely and switch to the web client when playing. Now is that what is causing your stutters? No idea, only way to know is if it doesn't happen to you after closing Discord. Could it be some sort of stutter from bass? No idea, it's not impossible I guess. Could it be some sort of Bancho stutter? No idea again, could be possible. Could it be any other process running on your pc… yeah, again just as likely as everything else so far I think.

We moved to .NET 10 since the first 64 bit build (5.0.18), so you can try running the latest 32 bit .NET Framework builds and let me know if that runs any different I guess. You are also free to try the last 4.4.xx release and see if it doesn't stutter for you when running that version today. Each release of Bass comes in different versions like digital client does, 64 bit, 32 bit, Arm64, etc. So it's possible there could be bug with the 64 bit version of bass that doesn't exist with 32 bit bass, but I feel like if that were the case this bug would have been discovered by now.

I am by no means saying the issues you are facing are not real, I just don't really have much to go off of to try fixing it here.

Hotfix time… again! Sorry about all the bugs. This will hopefully be the last hotfix release before we start cooking up some bigger changes for next release! However there are some new features for this release!

Seasonal Backgrounds from Bancho!
I reworked how background images work in Digital Client, hopefully for the better.

When you first select this option, Digital Client will display a blank background while it downloads all the seasonal backgrounds, once that finishes, you will get the current seasonal background! Note there is a small bug with seasonal backgrounds where the game will load the previous background, then load in the next one when returning to the main menu, I haven't been able to come up with logic that completely avoids this

The background selection code was completely reworked! You can now choose your main menu background image source here with this dropdown!

Song Select Map Summary Options!
Choose between pp, or the new Max Score option!

These estimates should be very accurate for osu!, Catch the Beat, and Mania! Taiko on the other hand…. well… it's fucked. Sorry Taiko players. The estimates for specifics are relatively close, but for converts they are cooked. I would get into the nitty gritty details, but let's just say there is a good reason why no one has ever made a max score simulator for score v1, and getting the game to do it for me proved to be VERY difficult in the case of Taiko. Hopefully with time I can force the game to give the correct values…

Add Bancho Status for Mr. Ladybug Clicker, Mr. Ladybug Painter, and Blackjack
Now your friends can see if you are playing these modes!

Better Time Interpolation Option from un!stable (Experimental) by Khangaroo
This is an experimental backport from Lazer to un!stable to Digital Client to try to remove stutters at the start of beatmaps. Khangaroo tried porting this before, and it didn't fully fix the issue, but I ended up adding it just in case this helps users with this issue, you never know.

Bugfixes
Yeah, there's a lot of them.

Fix Bancho Not Working for net48 & net40 Builds for Some Users by Levi
This was fixed by wrapping the websocket library directly into the executable. It just made things simpler

Fix Posting to Forums Not Working in BSS by Levi
We accidentally were sending the forum post to the wrong endpoint

Fix InstantComboCounter and InstantScoreDisplay Read/Write to ConfigManager
Maybe it's time for a ConfigManager rewrite man

Fix Unzipping osz With Many Periods in the Filename
Thanks to ObtuseCactus37 for reporting! We now sanitize the temporary filename to fix this issue.

Fix Snaking Out Sliders With HD Causing Sliders to Rebuild Improperly
Thanks to cocoa for reporting! I have no idea why this only affected certain maps, but now it should affect none!

Fix Taiko Not Resetting SV
This was a peppy bug, it sounds really scary, but in execution this never was an issue due to how beatmaps get loaded and disposed, but this did cause major issues in my max score calculator!

Fix ImGui Forms Overlapping the Old Login Form Checkbox
Whoops

Fix Max Values Not Appearing in Taiko Test Mode
This is another peppy bug, this was broken in vanilla clients from some point in 2012 to mid 2014, and no one noticed I guess??? Fixed in my client now at least lol

Fix Mania Hold on Standard Crashing in Gameplay by Khangaroo
For my Hexis converter mostly

Fix Smoke Not Saving to Replays
In my initial raw input port this worked properly, but in my 4th attempt (the one that shipped) I forgot to change the line that actually saves smoke… whoops.

Move FPS Counter Higher Up in the Editor
This is just how old clients worked, but I fixed it after Khangaroo pointed it out lol

Try to Fix Waveform Disappearing and Never Coming Back in OpenGL
I couldn't replicate this bug easily, but I think it's fixed now since I haven't seen it in a while.

That's it for this release, please give Oreeeee your strength as he attempts to migrate Digital Client over to FNA, if he is successful that would mean we could access way more renderers than before!

Found by gsxr, the latest release of Digital Client now provides an unfair advantage for other Taiko players not using the Digital Client. I understand that Taiko is utterly fucked to begin with as mentioned above, but this is game breaking.

Using Digital, HP no longer matters, it instantly goes to max, where as in the stable 2015 client and every other client, the HP climbs.

Hotfix #4… yay :(

This will be version 5.0.49a! This is the first ever official "a" version of any Digital Client release! Unofficially 5.0.18 had a and b variants, but they were still called 5.0.18 officially.

5.0.49 is being disabled permanently due to a game breaking bug in Taiko which caused HP to instantly go to 100 when hitting any circles. This happened due to using 2014 code that assumed that the hit object manager had knowledge of the current hp rate (like it does in 2014), but it doesn't in 2013… so whoops. That major bug has been fixed!

There are some other changes in this release too, cuz releasing an update with only 1 change if physically impossible for me.

Updated Changelog Screen to Support Subversions!
I also updated the look and formatting just a tiny bit

Disabling Video/Storyboard in the Editor Will Properly Disable the Storyboard
This bug is a bit funny, because technically the bug wasn't the functionality, but the text itself. In base b20130303, this button only said "Disable Video", but when I updated the text to use the modern localized one, I didn't realize they had changed the button to disable BOTH Video and Storyboard. So it was still working like 2013, but the text made you think it worked like 2015. It now disables the video and storyboard like in modern clients.

Use Localized Text in More of the Editor
I replaced more hardcoded text strings with their localized modern counterparts. Things like AiMod and Editor errors should now be translated (unless the text is custom, I haven't created custom localizations for all these things quite yet)

Example of Polish AiMod

Use Modern Star Ratings Ranges for Difficulty Estimates in AiMod
The little difficulty ratings in AiMod were based on eyup stars in older clients like b20130303. Now it uses modern star rating, and the modern star rating ranges… unless you enable the "Use Old Star Ratings" option.
